If the remote case is just broken find a replacement remote and swap the insides. I just did a Goggle search and came up with 2 different remotes, make sure you get the proper one.

If it is like the 850, reprogramming is fairly simple.

Keeping it running is better than buying new

97 960 Key Fob 900

Dear Michael Yount,

Hope you're well. The Volvo part # is 3542775, which no longer is available from a Volvo dealer.

I'd guess salvage yards will have this item. I don't know whether or not a Volvo dealer will - if given the donor and recipient vehicles' identification numbers (VIN) - be able to re-program the fob.

I'd call a Volvo dealer service department and ask them if they can re-program a fob from a salvage yard car and - if so - what information they need.

If the Volvo dealer says that a fob can be re-programmed, I'd buy a fob from a salvage yard, and get the VIN of the donor car.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
