Rear coil springs 1993 240 wagon 200

After making the mistake of installing heavy duty rear springs on my wagon (that destroyed the handling and ride), I'm shopping for the regular OE springs. I'm finding three different springs that are supposed to fit the wagon: 1) Volvo OE (part # 1229052), 2) Moog (part # CC217) and 3) Lesjofors (# W0133-1616415). However, they all have different specs (mm thickness, loads, spring rate) or show none at all. I'm just trying to restore the original ride so I don't want anything stiffer. I'm not concerned with the price at this point. Does anyone have any take on these three spring?

Hello,

I know this doesn't address your current question, but I remember your original post and I went back and looked at it. I think there are some basic issues you have overlooked.

That is the bushings and the shocks. The Trailing Arm Bushings are the number one cause of rear end sagging, not the springs. At 280K they are done. Also check the Torque Rod Bushings.

Search out the better quality Boge for the T A B's. Do not use poly bushings anywhere if ride comfort is your goal.

When the Bilstein Touring shocks first hit the market there were lots of complaints of noise and clunking do to the mounting hole being larger than the bolt. I'm not sure if they got that corrected.

My wagon was sagging unevenly at nearly 400K. I replaced the T A B's. While I was at it I figured I would switch the springs from side to side. To my surprise they measured exactly the same, the difference was all in the bushings. It now sits tall and straight, and rides great. I would redo the bushings and reuse the springs.

If the ride was fine before replacing the springs/shocks I'm not sure the old bushings are the problem. However; if new bushings can improve the ride I will look to replace those too. I'm surprised though that you suggest staying away from the poly bushings as I thought they were supposed to improve the ride/handling - (but I have no real knowledge about this stuff).

I didn't replace the springs due to sagging, just had read all the threads about how they were good for towing/heavy cargo and figured they were likely shot at 280k (they were per my mechanic) so I replaced them when I put in the shock/struts. Hopefully, with the OE springs and new bushings it will be back to its former ride. Thanks for your insight.

Thanks very much for the offer. At this point I just want to replace them with new springs and was looking for any insight on the three brands I outlined.
