    HORN WIRE 1800

    I assume you mean steering box? The wire just pushes up from the bottom, the shaft is hollow. For future reference, never pull out the wire without having it attached to another, then you can pull it back through. A long length of welding or brazing rod can often come to your rescue when you are having problems.

    Please switch off your caps lock. It is considered to be shouting and rather impolite.

      Jorge;

      As Derek mentions, Horn-Wire MUST be fed UP the Steering Shaft from the bottom (through hole in Steering Box Front/Bottom Cover)...feeding it DOWN is just about impossible, as doing it that way, it would have to make its way into the small-pipe-within-a-big-pipe coming up from the bottom...then its just a matter of sneaking past the Steering Coupler and up to the Steering Wheel...

      Good Hunting!

        Actually, early horn wires with a crimped horn contact have to go in from inside the car and fed down the steering column to the end of the steering box inside the engine bay.

        But to install it this way, you do have to feed a puller wire into the box and push it up into the car, I use steel tie wire.

        Then you have to attach the non crimped end to the tie wire and pull it down into the engine bay via the bottom of the steering box.

        FYI, something you can't see is the small diameter tube that is attached to the end plate of the steering box for the horn wire. This tube extends into the lower shaft of the steering box and above the oil level. If this tube wasn't there, oil would leak out of that hole.

        When you attempt to pull the horn wire down, the wire and puller wire have to be small enough to fit into the tube.

          Will an electrical snake work ? Either the flexible wire type or the fiberglass rod type .

            A snake is way too stiff...don't forget it will need to bend to clear and sneak around at the Hardy Coupler...a snake would never be able to do that...a solid copper wire of around 16 to 18 gauge will do it well...
