544 front nose panel 444-544

Hello all,

I asked this question before but did not get a definite answer.

Will a B18 1962 - 1965 nose section and hood fit on a 1961 B16 car ?

If it will fit do the fenders bolt right up ?

Thanks Ray J.

    Hi, Ray-
    I'm bulding a resto-mod 444,and using a B-18 center section/rad support and hood
that I found in Pick n'Pull several years ago. I have found some very helpful info at this website regarding proper fitment of these parts to a B16 car.

    Hope this helps !
    Doug

Yes, it will fit. Although the hoods are the same, the front panel has to come from a 544, not a P210/Duett.

Thanks Eric. I bought the nose panel off of ebay this morning. Are the hood mounting points the same ? They look different in the pictures I have of both.
I can fab up new mounts if different.

I know there are a lot of us that appreciate your help and knowledge.

      Have a great 4th.

      Best Ray J.

        Eric,

        Yes, you are correct but...

The differences between the Duett and 544 nose pieces apparently are not that significant. I struck a deer (or it struck me) a year ago and needless to say Duett noses are unobtainable. I finally managed to find a 544 nose and before I had a chance to discuss in detail with my body man, he had already reassembled the car. Fit is fine, indistinguishable from original from outside of car. The radiator is positioned higher but hood and fenders fit fine; clearance good all around.

I believe that the only difference between the Duett and 544 noses are radiator mounting height and that should be easily adjustable by a qualified body person (and should have been done, in my case, lowered, by the body shop).
