The little tach, take from 86 put in 92?

I have an 1986 244 auto. It has a little tach gauge to the right of instrument cluster. It works. I have an 1992 wagon 245 that I prefer to drive more. The two spots have the plastic covers. It looks like I could put the tach from the 1986 into the 1992 wagon. Is that possible? Just trace the wires to similar connections in the 1992 instrument cluster?

Yes in addition to the red/ white signal wire to G on the tack you will need to provide + and - to power the tack and to power the illumination lamp.
