    k-jet swap 200

I've done this with the B21/23 -- install a single Stromberg CD carb/manifold from a Canada car--if you can find one. If your car has an in-tank pump use only that one (by-pass the main pump) and use the return system with a "t" in front of the carb - or install a mechanical pump (new from a "marine' application). -- Dave

k-jet swap - Volvo Penta as closer to you parts source ... 200

You may want to check the Turbobricks website:

        http://forums.turbobricks.com/

You may find Volvo Penta (marine) intake manifolds that would accept a single or dual carb arrangement for the 8v engine versions. There exists a Volvo Penta B254 2.5 liter version of the B230 (larger bore) with the 16 valve cylinder head and that won't fit on your B21. There is a 2.5 liter versions 8V with the intake manifold, carb, and mechanical fuel pump.

Yet Volvo Penta for overhead cam four cylinder carb will have an intake that will work for you. Finding a carb, if not already, may be difficult as will the carb intake manifold. A drop in side or down draft Weber may work.

The intake manifold is warmed and cooled with a connection to the engine coolant at either end through what is a freeze plug (or nothing) in the 240 cylinder head. I'm unsure how or if you need to broach carb intake manifold coolant passage use with engine coolant. You'll need to research that.

You'll also want the mechanical fuel pump bolted to the engine right side (as you sit in the car or boat). Usually single low pressure line from the tank.

I see you are no where near Canada, yet Canada junkyard may have carbed 240s still. Canada Volvo used carbs into the late 1980s-early 1990s. And then the advent of PulsAIR and EGR with LH-Jet injection.

Though you disdain a more modern engine management, another migration past K-Jet is LH-Jet 2.2 fuel / Chrysler-MPG or some manner of Bosch EZK (117? 115? Non-Turbo) ignition. You'd need the distributor and maybe the intermediate camshaft. As well as all the wire harness, boxes, and such. One high pressure nylon line (new) from the main pump and a low pressure carbon rubber line.

A craigslist advert of 1976 245 project with carb intake:

Another with the right manifold with downdraft carb options:

Maybe the ad poster knows where to look for B21/B23/230 and such dual side draft carb intake manifolds?

Maybe search Volvo Penta service / parts outlets near you around the Gulf Coast?

I'll guess you can keep the Bosch Electronic Ignition that came with the K-Jet for use with a carburettor setup

This thread on Turbo bricks may help you for Volvo Penta parts sources by Penta engine model:

        (Volvo) Penta Faq

The engine model number indicates source. This thread addresses primarily the four cylinder overhead cam redblock engines.

Closer to you in hunstville AL

The Solex carb may work, the intake will with the mechanical fuel pump. Tho that carb looks might owld and may need rebuild.
