wheel touch up paint 900

Looking to to some touch up work to refresh a set of 1994 Hydra wheels. One wheel lost some paint on the edge because of an overefficient Meguiars cleaner (only using the gentler aluminum safe cleaners from now on). Otherwise some small scratches and nicks. I'm trying to find a reasonable paint match in both spray paint and/or pen/brush format. Suggestions for matching paint would be appreciated. Tried a rustoleum wheel paint at a local store but wasn't happy with the match.

You might call your local refinishing supply houses or check on line for ones that offer correct color matches in aerosols. You will need the correct Volvo silver color code. I believe it is 130, but please have that verified before you would have that done.

The dealerships used to offer color/clear coat combos for panel touch up. Tasca would probably be your best price if that is still an option.

Dear rstarkie,

Hope you're well. Volvo VADIS - a superseded dealer parts/service database - shows that Part #31395161 is for a can of spray paint, in Color 130. This is "silver metallic" - a body paint color - according to the Pocket data booklet - Cars (700, 850, 900), 1991-1996, Table - 11.

At a US Volvo dealer, this can will cost about $30. The amount of paint isn't specified.

I have no clue as to whether Color 130 matches the coating used on wheels.

Thus, I agree with you that the best approach is to go to a company that refinishes wheels, and see what they apply to Volvo wheels, to color-match with the factory-original wheel coating. Such a firm might be willing to sell a small amount for "touch-up" use.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
