Free image hosting sites? Photobucket just informed me that I needed to UPGRADE.

I received an email from Photobucket today saying they had "noticed" that I was using Photobucket for 3rd party hosting. It went on to say that any image from Photobucket linked to a website was 3rd party hosting and was not in accordance with their rules for my account level. Clicking on the upgrade now button gave me the opportunity to achieve a level where 3rd party hosting was permitted. The drawback was that the cost was $400 a year!

I have used Photobucket for years to host images for posts here at the Brickboard. I don't monitor how often I do that, but between the Brickboard and a couple of other sites I would say it is less than 50 images a year and none of them are for commercial purposes (they are also not posts that would put a huge demand on Photobucket's servers because of heavy traffic). Sorry Photobucket, but $400 a year is unreasonable.

So, what image hosting sites are people using to link images to their posts? My internet provider, Spectrum (TWC), does not offer any storage space for that purpose.

Thanks,
Randy

Photobucket is BS and SUCKS. Use Brickboard BrickPix ....

    ... locally here at https://www.brickboard.com/GALLERY/

The only restriction is a one (1) megabyte file size.

You may want to limit the width to 1000 pixels.

    http://cleanflametrap.com/imgcode.jpg

BrickPix serves up sometimes relative URLs in some types of images (Cars, Technical, Personal)

In the HTML box for image number 12907, titled 'B20f head', the HTML box contains a relative URL.

The example image using a relative URL. You may or may not see it:

Without the img src info, the relative image is:
    /GALLERY/images/12907.jpg

So, you will see this, with the entire brickboard URL:

    https://www.brickboard.com/GALLERY/images/12907.jpg

So, for some reason, the images display in Opera 12.17 and Mozilla FireFox 54.0.1 today, so, maybe no worries no more?

Else, a remote image hosting site? Imgur? Supports encryption. Free. Verify the https each time. Embed Image URLs the same way as in Art's bright, yellow, and happy info graphic.

    https://imgur.com/

Photobucket is only interested in in ad revenue and collecting personal information from the wide ranging cookies spattered back and forth. So, for all the people that used, with informations images here on the brickboard and on turbobricks, and many other Volvo and import auto sites I read, well, these are going away. You can't see them anymore as user may have not logged in for some time or are unwilling to pay the fee associated with third party imaging. Stupid malodorous Photobucket. What info fascism.

For all Volvo content, I use Brickboard BrickPix. Jarrod collects some revenue via them adverts on this site, and I'm pleased and grateful (dead) with that, considering how hard the man works at his day job and his generosity setting up the brickboard, admining it, curating it, moving content from host to host to host and database to database, and paying for it, for what now, 20 years.

At least here, you ain't working for Mark Zuckerberg and his s**t-faced book on the Volvo forums there. And you get way better guidance here and on turbobricks. I endlessly mention brickboard and turboricks on the face-spaced-book Volvo site. And they are coming here, for the silly and sometimes insulting responses people provide there when some Volvo 240 owner is in a bad way with her or his Volvo 240. So, I tell them I'm stupid and to come here. Jarrod could make some more bucks, too, I hope. Better Jarrod and the trubricks site owner then Zuckerburg.

Maybe Google images too as John Sergeant mentions, yet you get into simple file permissions issues, yet you can also serve up sites on Google sites, learn about HTML and some basic web design using Google tools. Google Docs is also very cool. Very clean editors. After 30-years of tech writing in Microsoft tools, well. Yet MacWrite, MacWritePro, and MacDraw (& Pro) were great as were the Aldus tools, and AppleWorks and AppleWriter, and PFS Writer on Apple II.

Sorry to go on so. A fill pot of the Earl Grey Tea today. Please spare a prayer and wish me luck for this writer job search quest. Needs a garage - gots owld Volvos 240 to care for. (Wants Volvo 164, 242, Amazon, and PV 544.

After multiple times of dealing with this drama and now PB holding my pics hostage, I'm over it. I'll just describe -- and then get a cell number or email for exchanging photos with anyone interested.
