Back up lights on a 544 444-544

Does a 1965 544 have a contact for reverse lights installed already. My friends 544 has no reverse light. I had thoughts of installing something for him.

    Back up lights on a 544 444-544

    Julio;

    I'm not certain, but I would expect this is dependent on Gearbox...if an M40, it probably has the grounding contact (coming from the top of oval Alu box mounted on top of the rear of gearbox) to energize a relay, and switch power to the lights. If no automatic contact is available, a switch and relay could always be added at the dashboard.

    I'd check GCP exploded assembly diagrams for his model vehicle.

    Cheers

        All of the PV Volvos did not come with reverse lights or switches on the transmission from the factory.

        Volvo sold an accessory reverse light that bolts to the rear bumper, but you also had to buy a seperate switch kit to make it work which I am pretty sure came with a relay too.

        FYI, I can supply a reproduction single backup light assembly with a bracket and a switch kit using a combination of new and used parts.

        Here is a page from an old Volvo accessories catalog price list.
