Dear Horatio,
Hope you're well. I don't know if there's a procedure, but I've removed/replaced carpets in 940s. Carpet removal requires: (a) removal of the color-coordinated plastic threshhold strip and (b) the front seat.
To remove the threshhold strip, you need to remove the three rectangular plastic cover plates, so you can access the T-20 screw under each cover plate. The cover plates are best removed by inserting the edge of knife blade under the edge of the cover plate, and twisting the blade, so that it lifts the cover plate enough, to disengage the cover plate's lugs from recesses in the threshhold strip. Remove the three screws.
Further to ease removal of the threshhold strip, remove the plastic plate on the door-side of the driver's footwell. That plate is secured by two T-20 screws. The top edge of the plastic plate fits under the molding beside the dashboard. Pull gently to disengage the top edge of the plastic plate. Old plastic is brittle: go gently.
To remove the driver's seat, move the seat forward or back, so that the heads of the bolts (14mm) are exposed. Remove the bolts: the otuer bolts are shorter than are the bolts closest to the emergency brake console.
Before trying to remove the driver's seal from the car, disconnect the negative battery cable clamp from the negative battery terminal. Put the cable clamp into a plastic bag, to isolate it. Removing the negative battery cable clamp cuts power to the SRS system. That is necessary, because the SRS sensor is affixed to the floor pan, under the driver's seat. Should the seat be dropped onto the sensor, it could trigger an airbag deployment. At close quarters, that can be lethal.
The under side of the seat rails has a stud, that locks into a slot in the floor pan. To disengage the lug from the floor pan, push the seat (I think it is forward) about 1/4". You may need to make a few efforts to disengage the lug from the floor pan.
Removing the headrest may ease seat removal. See the FAQs for the headrest removal procedure.
The seat wiring harnesses - three of them - each need to be disconnected. These connectors are found at the front end of the door-side seat track. There's a plastic cover that is secured by a T-20 screw. Remove the screw and carefully disengage the cover. The connectors may be under the carpet. Use a finger to grasp them and pull them up, so you can disengage each connector. You can now remove the seat.
The carpet is pushed under the emergency brake console and the plastic plate, on the console side of the driver' footwell. You can pull-out the carpet and re-insert it.
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
