I have a B16 engine for my PV that has a single carburator. The exhaust manifold has a heat riser flap and exits to the down pipe straight below the carburator. I'm trying the fiqure out what down pipe to order since I have'nt seen a picture different to the pipe I have for the original b16b engine with dual SU4's.

    Finally after comparing the differences betwen the B14 anb B16 Engines, I now realize the B16 engine that I have sitting in my shop has a B14 exhaust manifold and exit is straight down. Now I'm wondering if the down pipe that goes with the B14 exhaust manifold will couple with the rest of the B16 exhaust system. any one out there know???

      No, they won't line up and the B16 pipe might be larger than the B14.

      A good muffler shop should be able to cut and weld to make the early B14 front pipe line up.

      But if the B14 pipe is smaller, it's not a good idea to go smaller to larger front to back. In fact most exhaust systems do the opposite going slightly smaller in diameter as the exhaust pipe goes to the rear.

        Thanks planetman. I'll be running the single carb set-up as a temporary thing. I have a set of SU4's. that I'll rebuild. Once I change tothe SU carbs, I wil be replaci g new with complete exhaust system. I'll just get a front exhaust pipe for a B14 and adapt. Planetman,doyou still have a set of emergency brake lever ( Inside the Drum ) for the rear brakes with a plug / hole in the middle of the brake shoe? Someone left them out and I really want the option for this single circuit brake system to have an emergency brake system.

    From what I can see the B16a and B16b use the same front part of the exhaust. i.e. it fits both single and twin carb exhaust manifolds. This does incorporate a silencer. part # is 660514
