Different Brake boosters and brake systems 90 740T vs 89 740gle 700

Hey everybody.

I'm looking at this GLE 740. It's an 89, and has ABS, but has this very skinny booster, unlike my 90 with a very deep booster.

I know my 90 has ABS, 8" around "deeper" booster, big rotors, and calipers so big that 15" wheels won't mount to the front.

I didn't look at the calipers on the 89, but I believe it has a set of 15" alloy wheels on it, which means smaller calipers and rotors. The booster is also a very skinny kind.

The brakes are spongy as can be, to the point I'd rather not drive it across town to get it home. Step 1 is of course flushing fluid, failing that I'd swap the Master Cylinder and booster from my wrecked 740T.

Why were there two different booster/caliper setups in two cars a model-year apart that both had ABS? Are they interchangeable?

Cheers!

Unfortunately the 16v booster is unique to that model (engine). Any other will not fit as it interferes with...I think the intake manifold? Can't remember right now, but you have to use that "flat" booster. I scoured JY and got 2 when my booster went out.
Not sure if 740T calipers are bigger and may not work on a 89 GLE, but I am pretty sure 940T calipers will work, and certainly you could upgrade to 16" wheels.
Hopefully it's not the master cylinder, although I think those are available, the booster is either not available or very expensive.
