'87 240 engine transplant to '88 740 700

What issues will I have to deal with if I try to replace the '88 740 engine (30# compression in one cylinder) with the well running engine from my rusted out '87 240? I know the distributor connections would have to move & motor mounts, too. What other issues are liable to crop up? Thanks for the help.

I believe those are both lh2.2 cars, so almost everything will swap right over. Diz, you only need to lengthen the connectors to the coil. The alternator is different and the a/c, but if you don't use a/c the upper alt may be fine for you.

There always seems to be more to these kind of transplants than meets the eye. It may be quicker and easier to do a head gasket / valve job on the existing engine. Assuming the bottom end is healthy.
