windshield 700

Hello everyone!
I called couple of well known glass companies in my area for a 1992 740 wagon windshield replacement. They said they don't carry it anymore!!!!
Has anyone run into this problem?
Is there any source besides a used one from a junk yard?
Thank you in advance and have a great day!

Charles

Yes I did, also called six different places to no available.
I did go to the junk yard today , pulled a good windshield and will install it tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your reply and I hope we can keep those car rolling!

hi sages- actually had the same experience with my92 245 when i checked on availability of a windshield, due not to the fact that it was busted but was figuring i would have to remove the good windshield to fix a leak which during a heavy rain soaked my rf floor and d board top. fearing repair of that would cost millions in shysterville, i am still trying to resolve this conundrum. figured removing the windshield had a 200% chance of busting it, decided to find a source first. safelite said they could access one. maybe that has changed. independent glaziers said they could find one but i would need a mortgage for their charge. still surrounded in a fox hole with my .45 and one clip left. moe told me not to worry about the floor rusting out b/c old volvo metal is much better at resisting rust than old american tanks. is that true. any rescue mission possible here. thanks tons oldduke

Hi oldduke- I have a 92 740 here in St. Louis and I just had the windshield replaced for $199.I called 5 places and they all had them,at varying prices. Cant say if the 240's were available.Maybe just pay a windshield place to remove and re-install your old one? Or slather a nice tube of silicone on the leak area? Oh, and the floorboards will eventually rust,as they did on my 85 240 wagon, many years ago. Hey did anyone else hear the comment this morning on CBS about Hillary and the glass ceiling? The person said she should have instead been concerned about the lady in the midwest with the cracked windshield and can't afford to get it fixed! I almost spilled my coffee. I swear I'm not making this up.Well, I hope you can get this resolved . Tinkerbelle
