I had the same issue with my 66-122. Finally took it with the part to a local shop known for their work. Perfect job for aboy $ 150.00 labor.

I made a suitable holding tool by drilling a couple of holes in a three foot length of 1" angle iron and grinding enough clearance for the socket. This is then braced against the floor to allow loosening of the nut. As others have stated, it can be a bugger to break loose and you do need a pretty good torque wrench to properly reinstall. Not a tough job if you have the tools

This isn't an easy task at home unless you have a lot of good garage kit. The nut is done up to 200-220 ft/lbs. This will need a substantial counter hold for the flange which you will also need for removing the nut. Also a very large torque wrench. Yes there is a special locking tool, you might be able to borrow/hire one. Spicer axle and a Jeep shop might do the job for sensible money. Not easy applying that sort of force lying under the car. If you have the car up in the air with the axle on stands the force can easily tip the car sideways. Beware. Be safe.

In order not to alter the tension on the pinion gear when you remove the yolk that holds the pinion seal into place you must index the shaft and the nut before you loosen them and count the turns as you remove them.
You can plan on needing a puller to remove the yolk.
When you reasemmble the pinion and seal it will be back the way it was and no excess noise and wear should occur.
Have fun
