Shifter assembly interchangability

I just picked up a 1990 740 turbo wagon (B230ft/AW71) hat has a shifter assembly that is loose one moment and binding the next. I found a 1990 760 turbo wagon (B230ft/AW71) with a smooth functioning shifter assembly, Are these assemblies the same and can I move one shifter assembly to the other car?

If they are the same does anyone have a link to some sort of directions.

Thanks

Dale
