Just to clarify for the OP. This work takes no particular skill. What is required is a thoroughly methodical and maniacal attention to detail. Patience is way more important in this instance than anything else.

On the plus side, with a carb car, you basically have 25% less wires and only three (I think) where having exactly the right resistance (or lower) is crucial...the dizzy wiring.
