cross fender engine lift 200 1993

I would like to get a bill of materials for a cross fender engine lift that Art Benstein, and others, have built. What dimensions and grade of steel are needed so that the lift will be strong enough ?

Thank you.

About 12.00 in 2001 dollars. If I recall correctly.

Seriously, google "unistrut" so you can get familiar with a strong and cheap method of creating a beam. Get familiar with the sizes and terms so you can visit your hardware store locally and use the lingo to find it or its alternate brand equivalent. It is in the electrical section, if there. Perhaps you might have to look up an electrical supply house, where electricians get their stuff.

Get a piece about 6 feet long. The deep variety is going to be stronger. While you are in the hardware store, also get a long threaded hook -- 5/16 or 3/8 material. Look for one that has 4-6" of thread on it and get some nuts and washers to fit. If you don't have any already, buy an 8' 2x4 cut in half to protect your fenders.
