Seatbelt light won't turn off 200 1991

Flickered a bit, now both the dash light and the light behind the center console are glowing constantly. Removed the clips from the seatbelt stalks, and could not find any sign of a short. They look identical - no obvious wear, but I was working by flashlight - it's dark out there.

Assuming the contacts are bad - is there a way to repair them? Driver side has red, gray, and black wires, passenger side has green, gray, and black. If I wanted to simply bypass both contacts, how would I wire them both?

Besides pulling the bulbs, any other ideas? Thanks!

Still a mystery?

Do the lights stay on if the clicker relay fails?

What's a clicker relay?

Most likely the remote door locks.

Way too much guessing here, Onkel. And subsequent shoulder shrugging.

Looked it up. The UK version uses a flasher relay wired through the hazard switch. Translation from the King to Webster: clicker = flasher.

In the USA market cars, whether the seat belt is used or not, the lights come on and stay on for 4-8 seconds and go out. The only thing the seat belt switch does is silence the chime. So chasing the seat belt wiring is unlikely to be satisfying.
