1993 245 Overhaul - Distributor question 200 1993

Good question.

Even if the search did work here, I doubt you'd get too many hits on this relevant to the distributor in a 93.

As you probably already noticed, there's nothing to this dizzy. Just distributes the spark -- so the bushing, shaft, and end play considerations giving risk to buying used distributors when they generated timing signals are less important. I would definitely find a used one. Make sure the clips move freely or oil them until they do :-)

As for the zip tie idea, I'm frowning on that, thinking the nylon side-of-the-road alternatives to bailing wire could never achieve the clamping force of that spring steel that broke. And when it loosened, you'd now be at the side of the road again needing (probably) the dizzy, cap, rotor, and wires.
