Where does the cigarette lighter usually ground on a 220 ? The wire is missing from ours. i want to use it as a power socket on a road trip.

Thanks

Greg

You might consider a double or triple aftermarket socket with its own power and ground.

You could mount it in a handy location that does not hinder your front seat comfort

Grounds to chassis via fitting. The extra spade connect is a place that tap off more switched aux power. The lighter on mine is switched so only on when ignition is on. This can be changed if you change the position of the lighter supply post from aux to the key switch + supply post.

Also of note, lighter sockets back then were not fused, you could install an inline fuse for safety if you want.

Original lighter sockets have only 1 wire which is power to the center stud of the lighter socket and is usually connected to the ignition switch.

The socket is grounded through the dash by it physical connection. It is sometimes necessary to remove the lighter socket to clean the area where the ground connection is made at the dash.
