Window Vent Shades for a 240 200

Hello all, I THOUGHT several years ago I saw some of those little stainless metal vent shades that attach at the top of the side windows to keep out the rain, and act as a sun shade etc. I have them on my 56 Chevrolet truck and have always wanted a set for my 240 sedan, and wagon. I could have sworn I saw some available several years ago, but now can't seem to find any. Did they make such a thing for a 24O or did I just dream it all up?

The vent shades you're talking about were available as an OEM accessory from Volvo. You can find them from time to time on ebay or meets and such. They're among the harder to find accessories, but they are out there. I've seen them in junkyards too, but didn't have the opportunity to grab them. They probably exist in an aftermarket variant as well.

Just a waste of time and money as the roof has the rain channel built in by design. The 88 I bought had them( black plastic) and they where removed forthwith as they just had no business being on the car.

Personally, I like the look of the smoked plastic ones. Besides making a lightly tinted-out car look a little more mean, they have the added benefit of allowing one to drive with the windows slightly open in the rain. Nice ventilation. Oh, and for the record, they seem to be still available from AVS.

You can get vent visors from many vendors. They are the dark plastic visors that glue to the outside of the door.

I had a set on my 855R for 11 years. They allow you to keep a window or two cracked to vent the car, especially good for getting moisture out of your car in the winter.

You just have to tug on them every couple of months or so to see if they are starting to come off, especially at the front edge,

You can buy a roll of 3M trim tape to reattach then if they are coming loose.

They do not make them for our XC 70s, so I measured aii the SUVs that I could find and I ordered a set of Pathfinder visors so that I could use the rears for our cars.

I would not have a car without them.

I had a set in my cruiser that slipped inside the window channel, and they disconnected the window glass from the window linkage twice. Think about it - if the window seals tight in the channel, how can you stick something in the entire channel and not have a problem.

The metal visors are nice, but they work best on rectangular windows only.

I bought a pair for my '84 from a CarQuest in my hometown. I never installed them, and unless someone broke into my storage shed where we used to live, I still have them. They are stainless steel, I believe, with a black paint or black coating of some sort if my memory serves. If you're interested, you may send me a PM.
