yes, they are NOT VDO nevertheless they work just fine and for the money can not be beat.

Good to hear. I've had no problem at all in making the decision to correct those minor defects I've found to avoid paying 2-3x the price for one from VDO. I really would not be surprised at all to find they are all made at the same shop but VDO adds their stamp after doing (hopefully) a bit of incoming inspection.

On the other hand, I fully understand why there's a need for the more expensive QA'd version by an indy Volvo shop where the cost is passed along to the customer, and the business of part-swapping can proceed without the delay caused by inspecting "new" parts. The only long-term quality issue I can guess at is the longevity of the electrical wiring feedthrough. That could be affected by plating and process differences, but only after years of exposure - I hope.

the job if you have done it once you know is really quite simple.

the only remotely hard part is removing the old ring which is easier crushed inward than rotated off. the rest of the job is straightforward.
