I am not getting any heat, blower is working good and going from floor to dash and window is working well. The temp gauge is working in its normal manner. But just no hot or warm air, just somewhat cool air.

I remember see some posts about a compensation board for the heater that can be a problem.
I tried the search feature but couldn't find anything.

Any ideas?

Hello,

It would be helpful any previous history too. What repairs done before this symptom occurs. For example any recent water pump/radiator hose/thermostat replacement which you have drained the coolant.

I guess the aftermarket heater valve was sticking.
I will order a new OEM from Volvo.

By this he means the heater control valve. It is vacuum controlled on your car (I assume...no year or indication of if it is a 940 or 960).

Also, check to make sure no one added a mechanical shut-off valve in on the heater hoses. This was probably more common in the 240 because of the design of the heater hoses and the tendency to have marginal AC. In a 940 this would most likely be done for one of two reasons...leaking heater core or to avoid the tiny amount of coolant that is allowed to circulate even with the heater in the off position.

I changed the Heater valve just under 2 years ago, when the the timing + water pump was done and put new coolant in.

I forgot something important, 2 weeks ago my engine light came on. Could a temp sensor be messing thing up? Maybe it's one thing or 2 that need attention.

I do have some mobility issues and the last month has been rough.
I am starting to feel better and will check the codes and take a better look at things in the next few days.

I live in Calgary and although it looked like winter last week, it is much better now.

But I better get things sorted out before the cold weather hits.

Very simply, if the temp gauge reads normal, AC works and there is coolant in the res...only two things can be wrong:

Vac is not reaching the heater valve
Heater core is plugged

This is of course barring complete heater control valve failure which is not at all unheard of...particularly for non-Volvo OEM valves. This is one of those place, OEM is is the only correct answer.

I will order a new OEM from Volvo. Also the code came up for my knock senor.
I will loosen it a retorque and see if that help, if not I'll order one of them as well.

Well I hope it is not a heater core. The heater control valve was aftermarket.
I will check to see if the AC is working, it worked this summer, not as cold as it used to but it worked.
