This upgrade is interesting to many of us. Why not go ahead and use the entire 140 cross member w/ suspension? Have seen pictures on Swedish sites, elsewhere, and it appears to only be an inch or so wider, welded up to 544 w/ angle iron.
Now you have instant discs and newer suspension. It looks like the tie-rod ends match up as well. I looked at one 544 where the fellow had bolted a early 240,75 or 76 manual rack & pinion to the front of the cross member, adding a shock for bump steer. The 140 track would be wider than 544 & the later lug pattern are factors.
Has any one been thru this 140 cross member conversion out there?
