Bosch distributor rebuild (parts for Bosch 0 231 153 009 JF4) 120-130

Does anyone have a source for the rebuild parts kits for this distributor:

Bosch 0 231 153 009 JFR4

I show Volvo parts numbers: 240586, 240591, 241658

I can get this repair kit: 241671 which is listed for a Distributor for a Volvo B20A/B (69-70) - Volvo 241529/30

The exploded diagrams for the B18B/D and the B20A/B (69-70) look identical, will this kit work?.

Thanks for any helpful info!!

Here are some helpful links for anyone endeavoring to rebuild a Bosch dizzy:

Anyone have any other good links??

Thanks for the replies.

I've taken apart 3 distributors and in each one all of the fiber washers are either cracked or so brittle they crack upon handling.

Is there a substitute material that one can use that might hold up better than fibre?

Why was fibre used in the first place? Heat dissipation? Vibration dampening?

Anyone know?

If all you want are the fiber washers, I have those by themselves for sale.

Wll, it sure would be nice to have the correct parts!

I'm in need of:

The main shaft fibre washer: ID=13mm, OD=20.mm, .5mm thickness
The spring shaft fibre washer: ID=4.5mm, OD=9mm, 1mm thickness

I could also use the c-ring that goes on top of the main shaft (under the felt) if you have one. (ID=6mm)

Let me know how much for the parts you have. I may order multiple of the above.v

Thanks!

Last time I did one, the main shaft fibre washers were impossible to get, I had to use imperial sized ones and file them to the right internal size. The thickness you get is adjusted by the adding or removing of the steel shims at the base.

What is wrong with the old C-clip?

Hello,

I have at least 1 of the styles of fiber washer you need. And I might have the "C" clip if I have an opened kit.

Hello Mark,

I have the "C" clip and the large fiber washer.

I finally found a part number for what I think is the smaller fiber washer.

I will try to remember to call my Bosch automotive supplier tomorrow and see if the small fiber washer is still available.

Much appreciated!

I have searched high and low locally and come up empty handed.

Also, what do you have for SU HS6 rebuild kits?

Mark

The 1st test is to run a dial indicator over it to make sure it has 4 lobes the same, else it will only be truly good with an electronic conversion.

When you strip it, I would only strip it to the stage before taking off the weights, etc. That is more than sufficent. The main things are cleaning out the old grease/rust, replacing the old fiber washers, probably adding a steel shim or two, fresh lube. Don't bend the spring arms, make sure you put the springs back where you found them, and make sure you put a permanent mark on the bottom of the shaft to show which way the offset goes. Adjust the spring arms last.

Hello,

That kit will help, but it is mostly washers, spacers, clips and felt sponges.

Check out our website. We have the same kit listed under a different part number.

I'm looking to rebuild one of either two JFR 4 distributors, one is a 231 153 002, the other is an 003. Is your assortment kit suitable for these distributors and are the centrifugal advance springs available anywhere?
Thanks - Bob
