Thanks for the replies.

I've taken apart 3 distributors and in each one all of the fiber washers are either cracked or so brittle they crack upon handling.

Is there a substitute material that one can use that might hold up better than fibre?

Why was fibre used in the first place? Heat dissipation? Vibration dampening?

Anyone know?
