Speedometer erratic for about 1 minute then works fine 900

I bought a 940 at Copart for my daughter and have two problems left which I have posted for help. This speedometer problem is one of the last two problems I know of although insurance is effective today so I may find some more as I drive it. I read the FAQS and have resoldered all of the joints on the flexible PCB, replaced the plug on the differential sender, put the rear end up on a jack and run the car while pressing on the PCB various places trying to find a break, and have had no luck finding the problem. For the minute the speedometer is not working right, at first it is dead, then jumps around, and then is normal. Does this sound like an electrolytic capacitor problem or ?

I had the same problem with one of my 940's and replaced the capacitors as shown in the FAQ. I could see how they leaked some acid. Fairly easy fix and it worked! Hope your daughter enjoys her 940.

Thanks Phil, which part of the FAQs describes the speedometer electrolytics? I did see where they did lots of cleaning where they leaked.

It does. The capacitors act and interact in mysterious ways giving all kinds of crazy symptoms. If you are getting good readings with the only drawback being a minute delay in waking up, you may want to live with that but I doubt that it'll last like this forever.
