ignition problems 200

1993 240 died a few nights ago while idling at a light. My son got it pushed off the road a few miles from home. It cranks but doesn't turn over. There's no spark. Fuel relay sounds good. The same thing happened a few months ago and I replaced the ignition control module with one that I had at home and that cured it (the used module had 200k on it). So I figured that maybe the old replacement that I used had given up. Anyway, I ordered a new KAE module which I put in. It fired up and sputtered (it had to have sparked) then went right back to cranking with no spark. I immediately replaced the coil with a spare that I had. Still no spark. I replaced the cps when I bought it about 18 months ago. I did notice that the terminals on the female connection for the ignition control module are blue and green with corrosion. I worked on it for about 25 minutes then left because my fingers were numb. The NY winter doesn't want to quit. I'm going back out with some contact cleaner spray and a teensy screw driver to try and clean the terminals. Any other thoughts?

The CPS is a common culprit in this situation, but have you checked the power stage, mounted on the driver's side, just behind the headlight? I had a similar problem with a 93, and it ended up being the power stage.

Yup, I was thinking power stage too.

Power stage I believe is just another name for ignition control module.

No, the powers stage ampilfies the signal sent to the coil. It is on the fender near the coil. The ignition control module should be inside the car somewhere. Don't know exactly where it is on a 240...

          Check ou the following thread.

I think we're talking about the same part. It is on the fender near the battery. If you go to fcp they call it the ignition module. If you go to FAQ they call it ignition amplifier/power stage. They are both showing pictures of the same part.
