Door Lock Actuator 900

1995/940. Often when I squeeze the door handle lever to open the driver's door, all the doors lock instead. I have disconnected the actuator switch, but do you think it is the actuator or something else mechanical what is causing the trouble?

    Door Lock Actuator 900

Thanks everyone. It sounds expensive and may be complicated to find the part. I think I will use the car like an oldie. No power doors locks, until I have some spare time to do this tedious project.

    Door Lock Actuator 900

    Dear Volvito,

Hope you're well. This symptom likely means that a spring in the door lock mechanism (Part #9127546, MSRP = $130) has broken. The spring in question is not available as a spare part, as it is staked into place.

As a result, the part be changed. This part was used on all 740s, 760s, 780s, and 940s, and some 960s (up to and including the '94 models). Thus, you should be able to find this part at a junkyard. It must come from the driver's door.

I will shortly do this job on my '94 940. The lock unit is secured to the door by two T-40 flat-head screws, that go through the external part of the door locking mechanism (mounted on the outer edge of the door).

The internal part of the lock mechanism is hard to access. It has connecting rods to the door mechanism.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook
