hi sages- just read that the 700 series volvos have much easier r and r jobs on blower and core than the 240 series. have heard many times that this job is hellacious on the 240 which i am fearing on my 92 245 eventually.for those with front line experience on the 740 is this job much simpler on the 740 and if so how. from what i have read and experienced in the last 10 years, the 240 which ended in 93 is just about the last car which is relatively easy for a DIYer to work on(except for the blower and core). up until then i thought the trophy for ease of maintenance went to the slant six aspens and volares from chrysler which ended in 80. things are really getting tough. always concerned in the back of my mind that my 245 will be stolen (less likely b/c it has 3 pedals on the floor) or totalled by an inattentive phone texter in a passat or audi. as oliver hardy used to say , looks like another fine messs. when that day comes to fix the core or blower in the 245, i may plug off the heater juice and venture up to art in stinking creek,md. he will be surprised to see me. no matter, will treat him to a steak and shaeffer and some key lime pie. your sage advice always appreciated, oldduke
