OK, on the trail still. My '83 doesn't match my maps either. There are two of those thick black wires crimped on one spade at the courtesy lamp. Then there's another for the local switch ground. The two for the door switches seem to lead to each A pillar around the rear of the sunroof, and at least on the passenger side, it arrives at the door switch from above.
Still need to sort out what it looks like on the drivers side, but the news is, the 81 and 85 drawings do not fit my 83 242 TIC. I'm wondering if on yours, the thick black insulated wire from the dome light on the drivers side is broken inside right at the crimp. See if you can find it, arriving from above, and turn the light on by grounding it.
