weird acceleration 120-130 1985

HI:

I have an '85 245 with jetronic 2.2 (according to Haynes), non turbo. It sat for 10 yrs and I just got it started. it idles fine but won't accelerate. when I hold the pedal down part way (not pumping), it revs in short spurts "rev-rev-rev-rev-". When I hold it down all the way it revs several times and dies. There are several esoteric control systems on it. Can any one offer a diagnosis?

thanks
Bill

You probably want to post this in the 200forums.
Also. Car sat 10yrs. Have you done anything besides putting gas and charging the battery?

I thought this was the 200 forum and god yes.

replaced 2 computers and distributor, both gas pumps, fuel relay, cleaned the tank and replaced the in-tank filter, cleaned the injectors. re-aligned the shift so the park neutral switch works. This car has so many fatal problems I don't see how the second through 5th could have happened because the first one should have grounded it to prevent the others from developing.

I've been working on it for 3 weeks blindfolded except for brickboard. I've worked on 4 other volvos & they're all different. VW's are all the same, I can pull a bus engine in 15 min and fix it while asleep.
