Inexpensive 940 Seat Covers 900

Hi Folks,

Anybody have suggestions for some reasonably priced seat covers for a '94 940?

Just looking for something to help extend the life of the seats as they start to crack. Nothing fancy...

Thanks.

Dear MrNabisco,

Hope you're well. Are the seat covers cloth or leather? What color, i.e., gray, tan, black, etc.?

I ask, because I have some gray cloth-covered seats, that I do not need.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Spook - Do you have any gray, cloth covered back seats?

I put gray cloth 850 seats in the front of my 544, and I have been kicking myself for not taking the rear seat also.

Thank goodness the passenger seat folds, as I hadn't even considered access to the back seat!

Dear james_a_sousa,

Hope you're well. I have a suite of gray, cloth-coveered seats, for a wagon. I pulled these seats from a '95 940 with 71K miles. So far as I know, the car had never been smoked-in.

If I recall correctly, both front seats are mechanical (i.e., not powered). These seats have been stored in a climate-controlled area.

I pulled these seats to replace them with leather-covered seats, whcih I prefer.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Hi Spook - I'm happen to need a gray driver's side seat and maybe pasengers side for a 1994 940. I live in Arlington Va. So I was wondering if you are selling yours and where the seats are at.
My email is goodbyspam@gmail.com

Thanks

Thanks for the responses.

Good suggestion Jerry about using JY seats for skins. Unfortunately, that's not really an option here in Brooklyn. I have to get all my parts shipped, JY or new.

Spook, my seats are gray leather. Where are your seats? I wonder if I could use the skins as covers for the seats I have...

Plus I think I need a motor for the reclining function on the driver's seat. ???

What color do you need? I have friends who cruise JY's for extra cash. I or they can get some skins and ship them, but it's not free. Quality would be very good to outstanding.

Dear MrNabisco,

Hope you're well. The seats are north of Boston. Volvo seats are shippable via FedExGround, if one buys a box at U-Haul and re-cuts the flaps to gain a couple of inches of height.

I also have a couple of gray leather front seats, which have a built-in side-impact airbag. As these airbags are not electrically actuated, these seats can be installed in any 940 or 960.

BTW, I doubt the seat motor has failed. Most likely, the cable-end is worn, and no longer engages the mechanism. I can't recall a post reporting a failed seat motor, but cable-end wear is common (see the FAQs).

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Find some good pass seats at the JY, swap onto driver's side. Or, find a good and inexpensive upholsterer, and use bad seat parts/covers, cut them up and repair the ones you have.
I have done both quite successfully, so this can be practical.
