Hi All,

I used this tool to do followings...

1. cam shaft gear counter hold tool
2. intermediate shaft gear counter hold tool
3. gland nut counter hold tool + used a 24" long pipe wrench. They came out without trying too hard.

I will be using this tool for rear pinion gear + tail shaft job in the future. Wish me luck.

A cheaper tool to use for loosening the Cam and Intermediate gears is a strap wrench. Got a nice one from Sears for like $12. Has worked really well for me. Its compact and light enough to keep stored in my tool box which I keep in my wagon at all times. Plus 3 feet of rope for the crank pulley.

    for the tailshaft bushing 200

this is the only tool worth finding or using.
no longer made by ramac industries this tool was given away FREE by them in the 1990's for every 25 seals you bought to do this job.

the sold it for 350 dollars otherwise.

using it takes all of 20 minutes and no mess to remove the bushing and re install

Thanks for coming through on this.

I will store it with my "other" to do "someday" projects!

If you have time you could throw in some loose descriptions or approximate dimensions of that accessory pin collection that came with it.
Close up pictures will work as I can vary things so it's not copying for any kind of production scheme per say!

I might even be able to blow up the picture of the tool if I try!

I am not into mental sabotage of any patents but may have been sabotaged mentally! (:-)
      Thanks again,
      Phil

I like all the OTC stuff I've got. Sturdy and usually well designed. As a bargain, maybe not. As a good value, probably so. If it gets you on your way with the job at hand, perhaps it borders on priceless...:)

Glad to hear it worked well. I do think $60 for two bars bolted together is just silly.

      Hi 81242DLB21FCA,

When I ran out all the BB tricks to loosen the cam/inter gears, I had no choice but to get one. For a beginner like myself, this is a good tool to have since one can focus on fixing a car and not worry about making a tool. I have found ways to utilize it in many ways but I still can't over how much this cost. Very expensive and silly indeed...

Looks like it took the place of several other tools that, altogether, would have cost more. And seems versatile enough to adapt to even more situations. I'd say it was a good purchase.

I will be looking for that bit of information. Thanks for thinking that way. Saves me from standing there measuring and making paper or mental notes in the store.

I like OTC tools, as they make nice things but "some" seem to be priced well over their tooling up and R&D cost. OTC means to me....Outrageous Tooling Cost. Just an opinion of a machine head. (:-)

Looks like something from Harbor Freight but I am sure their metal and workmanship is higher!

In fact, you would probably catch me thinking of chain link fencing material to make it out of!
You know those flat "galvanized" tensioning rods you weave into the openings to pull on between posts.
Cheap and cheesy but tough in their intended direction. A couple bucks and you get four feet. Enough to probably make two of these!

            Phil
