problem is solved, this may help others who find this problem 200

writing the request for help got me thinking about all the items i checked but did not actually verify as working 100% of the time

the only thing that came back was the cps . i only verified ohms. so i decided to remove it having not done so before because its such a hassle to do. anyway what i found when i really had a look at it was this:

the sensor is newish BUT the installer put it in in such way that the cable out of the sensors neck was bent 80 plus degrees in order to go UNDER the coolant pipe that snakes around the back of the head and then straight up to the harness.

with this on my bench and connect snug in a vise i set up my ohm meter with alligators to the plug end 2 connectors and measured ohms as wiggled the cable right at the neck where the severe bend was located. all insulation was intact and the sensor looked new.

sure enough under wiggling the ohm read would wildly vacilate between normal and and an open.

i conclude that the engine rocking back and forth at startup upon occasion causes the sensor cable to pinch at the coolant pipe causing an open.

keep this in mind when you install these sensors. do not ever snake the cable between pipe and the head. the angle is to much.

You didn't give the year.
Does the 200s have radio suppression relay?(triggers injectors to open)
Rex or Bosch?

No rsr in the 200 models. And the presence of a cps says 1989 or later.

If you're getting a consistent 40 psi in both no start and will start mode, and consistent spark whether starting or not, injector operation is suspect. If the relay is good, the only other part that figures in the injector operation is the ECU. By any chance do you have a -561 ECU with the pink label?
