regina coil, no spark 700 1990

Hi All,

The volvo is in no sparkling condition now.
It cranks but does not start all of a sudden. This has not happened before.
I cleaned the distributor cap, pulled the wire going to one of the engine plugs, attached a plug, and cranked the engine. There was no spark.
My attention is focused on the regina ignition coil. Removed the torx screws and cleaned the surface on the back. How do I test it (where to measure voltage/resistance). I have been looking for that information for quite some time..

ps
there were no remarkable error codes besides the usual 321

    Truly awesome! Thank you all.
The CPS sensor was not working. I just relaced it with a used one and the car started.
Interesting post from Chrissij; brings up the philosophical question 'do I own the car, or the car owns me' :)

    jerryc, Randy, you are awesome.
The tach niddle stays still. The attention is not on the CPS.
There is no 12V on the connector going to the sensor though. Why?

Naw, Bruce and Art and many others are awesome, I was smart enough to listen to them.
Find Bruce's 'start-run sequence' for Regina, work with that.

Jerry brought up the crank position sensor and I agree you should consider it. The tach should show a slight "ticking" of the needle when you crank it over. If you don't see the slight needle movement then the CPS is probably the problem.

Do the fuel pumps cycle on for a few seconds when you turn on the ignition?

    Randy
