damaged parts under car 200 1993

The drive shaft broke and slammed around underneath my 240 wagon while going about 70 mph. It was replaced but I noticed that the parts circled in the photo were damaged. The brace thing is bent down in half and partially detached from the underside of the car and the 2 canister like things above it are now kind of just hanging loosely. Don't know why the repair shop didn't notice and fix this, but I just wanted to know what these parts are so I can tell them what to check. *Note- the picture I uploaded is not of my car, just one I found online with those parts undamaged.

WOW! Drive shaft broke at 70! You are very lucky it was the REAR U-joint. It may be time to grease or replace the other two U-joints and the center bearing. Fuel pump and filter possibly damaged? It may be time to change that filter too.

If you go to a Pick-N-Pull (good idea) it might be easiest (best?) to get the entire fuel pump, filter, and support assembly. It just unbolts from the bottom of the floor. Wires to the fuel pump unplug. The fuel line from tank has a screw clamp and output line is a brass fitting.

Pictures of the assembly are in the books available for free download at k-jet.org (even though your '93 is not k-jet).

If the bracket for the fuel pump and fuel filter is not able to be reused you can go to a Pic&Pull and replace yourself. It isn't hard to do.

That doesn't look damaged, how about a picture of what you are talking about?

Jeesh--those round can things are your fuel pump and filter. You have good reason to yell (politely) at the mechanic. -- (yet another) Dave
