I drove the Volvo to work today. Here's what has transpired over the last month.
1. Removed the head.
2. Ordered the Volvo head gasket kit.
3. Head gasket arrived bent and damaged in the mail.
4. Sent damaged head gasket back for another one.
5. Took the head to a machine shop.
5. Machine shop said the head was not warped. Cam journals were not warped. Pressure tested the head and it checked out fine. Inspected the valves. Installed new valve seals. No problems noted on the head, so they very lightly planed the bottom to help ensure a good seal.
6. Pulled a "T" cam from a 940 and installed it in the head.
7. Got everything back together, but messed up installing the new front crankshaft seal. Leaked oil from the crankshaft.
8. Pulled the timing belt off again and removed the crank seal.
9. Waited for new crank seal to arrive in the mail.
10. Installed 2nd crank seal and put everything back together.
11. Test drove the car. Drives fine. Started right up.
12. Need to tighten alternator belts.
13. So far like the "T" cam with my automatic transmission. Seems to accellerate better from red lights.
Will drive for a while with the belly pan removed to look for any coolant or oil leaks.
Go Dolphins!
