Yes indeed! It's still there. They're actually opened more of them. The higher ups weren't entirely pleased at me doing the motor swap on a car that really needed it, and taking about 6 days to do it, but nobody tried to stop me.
It's called TechShop. I worked at the Palo Alto one, and they have one in San Jose I think now. They have a website with their updates. It's a great place to work on hobbies. They have a 3-d printer too, which is really cool, and a lot of stuff for electronics, grinders, welding booths (they make you take welding classes from them before you can use them), a bunch of hand tools, computers w/autodesk software, and a bit more. They have a sewing machine room, screen printing?, Some sort of plastic molding, a bunch of semi-organized handtools, and some more. The one place I worked had free coffee all the time too.
I think it was like $25 a day or $100 a month for membership, but that was a few years ago.
I did get it overall sorted, and I'm really pleased that I finished it up. Every time I drive it, it's rewarding :D
Cheers Jerry
