I thought i share this BIG milestone with brickboard community since they made it happen that it got so fare ;-)
i just hit 300,000 miles on my 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon manual transmisson - I am sure there are a lot of other Volvo's out there with more mileage, but I am still proud ;-)
Here a little rundown on non-maintenance related repairs:
# I bought the car with 198k miles in 2001
# 1 broken exhaust manifold stud (pain in the neck to get it out since it broke off inside)
# ~230k miles my timing belt came off (didn't know that i should replace the belt tensioner too)
# ~240k miles my overdrive started slipping - replaced clutch at the same time
# ~280k miles the crank pulley came off (nose inside was sheared off)
# ~293k miles my head gasket blew (that was the longest repair it needed) - 293k miles and the head gasket blows ALREADY - what's up with THAT??? ;-)
# ~294k miles - mayor oil leak at the oil pressure sensor (replace it and DONE)
# ~294k miles - new front brake rotors
# 300,000 miles YEAH - still running strong
i am getting most of the parts from the junkyard and i feel terrible if i rip parts out of 740's with only 120k miles on it :-(
so my next goal is 400,000 - hope not to post anything at brickboard until then ;-)
thanks again brickboard community
