water in trunk 200 1990

hi. guys I have a plexing problem with a 240 I purchased this summer. after doing some repairs and getting it running correct.I started working on the body.the sunroof was caulked shut so I removed it but now I have water in the trunk when it rains. the trunk fills with water.I believe to have read somewhere on this site about tubing draining the sunroof. If this is the case how do you get to them and clean them. has this happen to anyone else??? I have checked the tubing on each side of the trunk all is connected. is there another connection or what.need help to solve this one

My trunk leaks in the 1992 944:

    Rust in LH wheel well.

Tail lights. Pull the offending lens off, scrape off old glue, glue back in with black RTV.
    No pic.

    Leaking LH rear side window.

Remove trunk carpet and padding. Put down some newspaper in trunk focus on putting the paper under the taillights and line up the paper so that it is under trunk seal area. Now go at the car with a hose. Hose it down around the trunk lid and near the lights, no need to get too crazy with a jet stream. Open trunk and look for leaks.

I agree. I'd definitely check the sunroof drains and taillights first. Having owned a 90 with a sunroof that's where I'd look first too.

Hope this is not the case, but is your trunk rusty? Specifically, the very narrow area at the front of the rear wheel wells. If you haven't already, take a good look in there. That is one place 240's go and it's one that needs to be taken care of ASAP or you'll have more than water in the trunk.

I've never had water in the trunk because of a sunroof, but have had it due to a lip seal fold, and most often, due to cracked tail lights.

Short of climbing in with a flashlight and getting a trusted friend to hose down the car, you can work with talcum powder to find the trail.

The clear drain tubes on either side of the trunk in the front left and right corner over the gas tank hump can come disconnected.

Else, water leaking around the tail light gaskets?
