780 nivomat replacement

hi all-
replacing nivomats in 89 bertone.
everything i'm reading says to remove plugs from underneath carpet and trunk to access the top bolts.
removed three plugs and the only one big enough for a socket or a finger or two to fit leads nowhere. the other two plugs are too small for even my extension to fit.
in the smallest hole, with the tips of my fingers i can feel something that feels like it's threaded. had i been born made of elastic, i could maybe reach it from one of the smaller holes.
so where do i find this damn bolt? do i have to remove the rear seats? if so...how?

sorry for the poor quality had to save as low quality so it would upload. the hole in the front does not appear to lead anywhere. the two in back are too small. maybe i am overlooking something obvious. thanks for your help.

    780 nivomat replacement

after a lot of cursing and lifting/lowering rear suspension i got the first new shock in. i'm wondering if anyone has any tips for lining up the top mount? it is damn near impossible to push it up and into place. i gave up on the 2nd one today because it's getting dark and i was tired of hearing myself say obscene things. maybe if someone has advice it will be easier when i tackle it again tomorrow.
    thanks

You are going about that wrong, I can assure you. One horizontal bolt in the wheel well as in all RWD Volvos. Then two obvious bolts vertically at the bottom, and the assembly drops down. You need a little clearance for the drop but hardly anything could be easier. I do this in the pick and pulls and never work inside the car or fiddle with seats. At most, I have to dig a bit in the hardback to drop the shock down. Its pretty sweet finding nice shiny new Nivomats for $3-$30 a pair.

if you go through searches on this site/google they all direct you to accessing the top bolt from trunkspace. that sounds easier. will try this afternoon.

The front driv e models are accessed through the trunk. ALL rear drive models are accessed from the wheel well. To access the top shock mount from the trunk you would have to cut a hole in the trunk.
