240 wagon 89 a testimonial to their brake safety system 200

I bought an 89 240 sedan. The owner told me it had a broken caliper. I looked at the left rear wheel and could see the pad had worn down to the metal. I thought it at least still has some braking power as the front rotors looked clean. I drove it 7 miles home down some steep hills. At home I took off the tire and could see for sure the rotor was shot. I decided to check the other side....there was no caliper at all...! the brake line was broken off and just hanging there and yet the other 3 brakes still worked. Kris

Volvos dual crossover system since the late 60s . And yes lines that never rust, gee what a smart thing too!!!! Eliminates the need for bleeding, just evacuate the tank and reload twice a year.

Imho the most glaring safety issue with gm, chrysler, and other manufacturers is their refusal to use cupro nickel or at least asian style coated brake lines. Up here in the ne a five year old vehicle can be in danger of a burst brake line with obvious dire consequences.

this is the second time I bought this car. First for $400 in Lawrence KS for my teenage stepdaughter. She drove it from Lawrence to Whidbey Island and sold it to a friend. I bought it from the friend for $180. With over 400k miles on it it runs better than my 89 240 wagon with only 130k miles. Kris
