brand recommendations for sway bar links for 940 900

Hi,
I'm getting ready to do a rebuild on the front end of one of our 940s and am trying to decide which sway bar links to buy. It has the aluminum control arms so it needs the links that are threaded on both ends. I previously have bought the cheap Scantech or Uro brand kits for like $12 but it seems like the rubber bushings in these go bad really quickly. I noticed FCP does sell poly bushings that I could use to assemble a set of parts. Looking online at Volvo brand individual parts looks like they would get really expensive....

Any suggestions about these options or an alternate brand?
Thanks!
Lyle

Don't if the following brands are available for your 940 but here goes...:)

Folks on the AWD forum who have 850's and S/V70's like Lemforder. They are not cheap (although a lot cheaper than OEM or IPD heavy duty - @ $27 for an 850), but they are supposed to last longer than OEM. They are German made and OEM on cars like BMW and MB. I need a sway bar link for my 850 and that's what I intend on using.

Meyle is also better than Scantech, but supposedly not as long lasting as Lemforder or IPD heavy duty.

    Hi Lyle,

    I have a 740 and two 940s.

740 has aluminum control arms and sway bar end links that were badly rusted - the rod diameter was noticeably reduced from rust. Replaced the rods, washers and nuts with a kit from eeuroparts. As I remember the bushings were OK so I reused them.

One of the 940s has aluminum control arms, the link rods were OK and I replaced the bushings with IPD blue poly.

The other 940 has steel control arms. The rubber bushings were loose in the lower eye portion of the end link. For that type of link with an integral bushing the best replacement was genuine Volvo from Tasca - about $15 each. For upper bushings I used blue poly from IPD.

I have heard that aftermarket rubber end link bushings dont last very long. Either buy rubber bushings from Volvo or use poly.

    Regards,

    Mike

If the steel bars are straight, then a set of poly's would work well. Superpro is reputed to be a good brand, not all poly is the same.
I have had some luck finding them at the JY for free, or almost.
