The problem is the wreckers are offering good money for them. In Toronto it's around $300 and they're quite aggressive in making the purchase.
I just rescued an '89, but it is actually a '93. ABS and SRS. Don't want it or need it but my neighbor had it in the papers for $600. People were calling and bidding down without seeing the car. He got fed up.
Wrecker called him, $300 cash, no questions. He bit. Saw him loading in the spare set of rims and tires and went to congratulate him on the sale. When he said it was to a wreckers who was on the way, I kinda got upset. (It had been abused by his teenage son (first car, a few broken parts that I loaned replacement parts for) but the body was solid. Anyhow, he called the wrecker who was in transit and cancelled.
So I have another 240 on the driveway, that I'm "unabusing".
