Hissing leak from above waterpump 200

My coolant is pissing out of the front of the cylinder head above the waterpump. I know there is a screw in plug on the front of the cylinder head and that there are copper or brass plugs on the side. Has anyone encountered this problem, and what I have to do to stop the leak. None of the commercial stop lead products work. When I depressurize the system by removing the radiator cap the water leaves slower and without a hiss. When the system is pressurized there is a constant high pitched hiss and the water runs down around the water pump.

No it wasn't the gaskets or seals. I had a Volvo specialist install the water pump and his work was excellent. Turned out to the be the thermostat housing. I coated the thermostat gasket and bottom of the housing with orange RTV and its been holding perfectly. Car though is running on the hot side so I am going to change over to a 180 degree thermostat this week. Thanks for the responses! I believe eventually, I am going to have to replace the cylinder head gasket on the old girl.

I am on board with the others. MANY times the Mushroom Seal that sits in the Waterpump and is pushed up tight to the hole in the Head leaks a bit.
You have to take the Pump off to fix it correctly... might as well throw in a new pump.

without looking at the car, and i can't because the light here sucks, i'm betting it's the rubber seal-1336255-between the pump and head. good luck, chuck.

Or the rubber band seal around the hard pipe that goes out the back of the water pump. Just get a seal kit, or a new water pump that includes both seals (most do NOT include the rubber band seal). Total time, about 2-3 hours if you do not shear off a water pump mounting stud. If you have it done, I think it is considered a 1.5 hour job but you might as well have the accessory bushings changed an consider if this is an appropriate time for timing belt and possibly front seals (main, cam and counter shaft seals).
