Grille Question 200 1983

Find the various grille designs a bit confusing in the pre-86 240s. I've got a spare grille that's an "Alt-A" (26 black vertical bars, 3 black horizontal bars, large gold-colored emblem placed in the middle of crossbar) design, but it shares a part number with a regular DL grille.

So are they the same or is there some distinction?

That gold emblem or grille badge is indeed a separate part number. It was only on Turbo models AFAIK and made in Canada.

Do you think "ALT-A" refers to the gold emblem at center?

if they look fit and feel the same and have the same part number then I would say they are the same.if they look different from each other(which I assume they do or why would you be posting?) then they are different. Could be that the emblem which is removable has a different part#. Describe your regular DL grille.

nothing to compare to -- I drive a GL, but have this spare grille and just wondered if it was a standard DL grille (even though Volvo calls this one ALTERNATIVE-A). Now I'm thinking the difference is in the gold emblem at center.
