There is a special steering rack for manual steering. Simply removing the power steering pump from a car with power steering will make the steering unnecessarily heavy. Get a manual steering rack if you want to do away with your power steering as well as your A/C compressor. Cars with manual steering were equiped with different ball joints as well. Replace your ball joints if you are performing this conversion.
