Portland Craigslist: 1980 Volvo 242 Classic - $6000 (North Portland) 200

????

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/2998005120.html

6000 clams are asked from you, the Volvo 242 seeker, for this 242.

Just wondering your thoughts.

I have nothing to do with this post. However, I'd like a 242 like this someday as well as a 164. Manual tranny. Moon roof optional.

Anyone have a 262 DL or GL (NOT the Bertone 262 C) for sale?

cheers,

Sleepy Little Volvo 242.

Love the 242, but for $6K, the guy is trolling for idiots.

Im no expert but I dont see $6000.00 worth of car there. Theres nothing special about the car. Isnt that a rip in the drivers seat cover?
    I'll give him $800.00 Maybe.
I had a 78, which is basically the same, I think? Mechanical fuel injection. A great car in its day. Loved mine. But $6000.00, I dont think so. Not even close.
It should fly off the screen as something really, really special, for that price.

    Just my 2cent worth.

As the sellers says: "I have put a lot of time and money into this car... need cash." And that's why he's asking $6k. Thinks he can be repaid for the money/time he's put into it. Will never happen.

Bilstein shocks make it a nicer car. The IPD springs are good too, but where are the oversize swaybars, urethane bushings and strut braces? Let alone an A, B or VX cam, etc... He only did half the job to "make it fun". Seriously, a manual transmission 240 with a stock "M" cam is pretty boring.

Sure, it's a nice car but not worth $6k. Maybe if it had 87k miles not 187k miles.

      Agreed.

Yeah, well below like 1500 if at all that. Less even.

Still though, I'd like to enjoy a 242 again. My fave model of all time.

      Really, really like the coupe.

Funny, that, with the two door I drove around with more people. More people drive me around in my own Volvo 242. You get to notice things that may need attention when in the rear seat and yet not quite fit to drive from perhaps a few too many ales from the local brew pub or simply really tired.

I have three sedans and one wagon. I'm the only one in the car at any time.

      Oh well.
